Sunday Evenings Yoga Nidra
We begin seated with gentle pranayama - slow, steady breath to settle the nervous system and prepare the body for rest.
From there, you’ll be guided into a Yoga Nidra practice based around the classic Satyananda format, lying down and fully supported. In this lineage, Yoga Nidra is offered as a clear, systematic meditation. Simple, direct, and restorative. For this class, there is no intention-setting, no visualization, and nothing to achieve.
This class offers:
A gentle transition into deep rest
An understanding of the basic structure of Yoga Nidra
Space for the nervous system to settle through non-striving
The most important part of this class is comfort. You will be lying down for an extended period of time. Please use as many props as you need: blankets, bolsters, pillows, eye masks, extra layers - anything that allows your body to feel warm, supported, and at ease.
Awareness is invited to remain soft as the body rests. Staying awake is enough. Drifting is okay. This practice meets you where you are.
This class will be guided by Sharan:
Rooted in Hatha, trained in Iyengar, and practicing Ashtanga, Sharan teaches from an Eastern foundation shaped by lived experience. Drawing from years of work in mental health and crisis response, she brings a trauma-informed lens to her offering. She is a mother, writer, climber, and former athlete. Read more about her here.
